UO Flashback
Ultima Online Pre-Alpha (1996)
|
Here you will find several pictures from the Ultima Online pre-alpha phase. Game and character art as well as paperdolls looked kind of premature, but they already had implemented the visual effect of light sources like lanterns etc. Interesting to see the big ships which they took out again in the alpha. |
Ultima Online Beta (1997)
|
During the beta lots of bugs were found, abused and eliminated. Due to a bug Lord British was actually murdered by a player while holding a speech in Britain. Take a look at the screenshots here! |

your friends at the tavern, all while playing Ultima Online." -
ORIGIN
he beta of Ultima Online had a much bigger player base. The graphics have been
improved a lot. The game seemed to offer a most
innovating and promising online gaming experience. Multiplayer online
games like UO were basically unknown at that time.
in
September 1997 Ultima Online finally came to the stores. A most exciting
and controversially discussed gaming experience came to life. UO was
doubtless the most innovating and interesting multiplayer online game at
that time. Even severe bugs, performance problems and excessive player killing
could not break the spirit of the big UO community.
