Killed by an Ettin

I feel ashamed about the story I will tell you now, because this day I really overestimated my abilities.

I was sure that the event of the last day was just bad luck. It was not my fault I died out there, and however, I could raise my fighting skills.
When I was striding through the undergrowth this day, I suddenly bumped into a gargoyle. I had never seen one before, and as I attacked it, I just learned that it had magic abilities. My skill of resisting spells was not very good trained, so I ran away as soon as I had lost half of my life energy. Luckily a knight on a horse came along and helped me killing the gargoyle.
It seemed to be a successful day, so I continued looking for evenly matched opponents.
A short while after I came across a strange looking tree; I never had seen one like it before. Then suddenly the strong branches of the tree came down and clinched me. A reaper!!! I swirled my sword and hacked the reaper with all my power. It was a hard fight. Finally the reaper collapsed and was dead.

Today there seemed to be all the hard monsters around. I hardly had recovered from my last fight as an ettin attacked me. I hid at once (luckily the skill worked fine), especially as another unknown monster joined it. As I experienced later, it was a gazer.
Feeling safe from my hiding place I watched the whole scenario. Something happened I had heard of before, but never had believed it was true: The monsters were attacking each other.
The ettin treated the gazer with his mighty axe, as the gazer attacked the ettin with strange spells. Both lost life energy, but the gazer more than the ettin.
While I was resting in my hiding place, I made the plan to watch the ettin kill the gazer and then attack the weakened ettin. I should have a good chance to win and loot both monsters.
The fight took very long, the two powerful creatures seemed to be very tough. As the gazer was near to death it tried to escape, but the ettin gave him a final blow with his axe and the gazer sank to the ground. The ettin looted it.
That was my chance! The ettin had lost half of it's life energy. I attacked it!
Unfortunately I totally underestimated the strength of the ettin. He stroke me three times which took 90% of my life, and my one hit didn't seem to do him any harm. I tried to escape, but then he hit me once more and I was dead. A ghost again!
I had to watch how the ettin looted my corpse and took my armor, weapon and shield with him. Well, at least not as frustrating as being looted by a thief.

Again I had to make all the way to the healer of Yew. It was the second time in the last two days I was wandering about as a ghost and I was feeling miserable! I would have to be much more careful the next time. It's better to hide and survive.

The healer did his job, and as I finally returned to the place of my third death, I only found my backpack lying on the ground, with my helmet and some useless stuff in it.
