The Mysterious Hedge Maze

tried to concentrate on the
ancient tales of the mysterious Hedge Maze, as I
trotted through the Britain woods.
In the distance I heard the wolfs howl to the silver moon which was sinking slowly down
behind the dense green roofs of the forest. I ignored even the brown bears and grizzly
bears, which seemed to enjoy the loneliness of these parts of Britannia. The sun rose slowly and in the dim light of dawn I recognized an old wooden sign fixed to a tree. The pale letters showed a warning to everyone who dared to enter Relvinian's Maze. |

Carefully continuing I reached a high hedge. There seemed to be several entrances and I chose one by random. What I discovered there was a magically wonderful labyrinth of gardens. I encountered strange plants, rare flowers and mystical statues. This place was somehow strange, totally deserted, and beautiful despite. I was remembering the tales speaking of a wizard's tower which could be found in the middle of the maze. |
| The path led me across some kind of
temple, beautiful though, but I could not make out what it is (or had been) used for. On
the floor I discovered a symbol I knew well: A red circle with a pentagram in the middle,
the same sign I had seen at the mage's house in the Volcano of
Trinsic. Failing to get the meaning of this place I continued on my way. |

Suddenly I reached the middle of the
maze and discovered a small farm, the tower and another small building. I went to the
farm's front door to see if somebody was home. Beside the door a message board was
attached to the wall. I wrote down my thoughts in a few short sentences for all the brave
travellers coming here after me. When I stepped forward the iron lattice blocking the entrance lowered itself creaking. I opened the door and entered the farm house. I found a lot of books lying around and read some interesting stories about Britannia. But there seemed to be no entrance to the mage's tower. |
| Somewhere there had to be a secret
entrance! I knew there must be a way to get into the tower. I searched the whole place
several times, when suddenly the ground gave way to my feet and I stood in a narrow dark
passage beneath the ground. I followed a long tunnel which lead beneath the farm house, when suddenly I reached a small musty cellar with a stairway. My muscles were tense and my breath was hissing with excitement as I climbed the steps. I entered the next floor and saw a strange blue glimmering light in the edge of the room. I guessed it was a teleporter, so I took the risk and stepped in. The teleporter took me to the highest floor of the tower, where I enjoyed the view of the whole area. |

Another teleporter transferred me back into the garden. I remember that there was said to be a library somewhere in the maze, so I continued searching. I found it in the western part. There were strange runes carved in the sand stone floor, but I failed to get the meaning of them. I read many strange stories about the history of this multiverse. Surprisingly I found an empty book with my name inscribed, which I was able to take along. One day I would sit and write down my adventures in this book... |
| I travelled on to Skara Brae in order to
take the moongate back to Trinsic. When I reached the harbor, I met another traveller who
explained desperately that the ferryboat to the island was out of order. Now that was
great! After thinking about it, I decided to visit the Shame dungeon in the north west. After a long hike through areas crowded with lots of animals I got closer to the dungeon. I came across a few small houses in the forest, when suddenly a door opened and a blue-dressed person stepped out greeting me. "Hail!" At once I noticed the strange flashing of his eyes and knew I was in trouble. When a second like-dressed person appeared I decided to run. At once I heard the feared spell Corp Por uttered by one of them. Fortunately the spell fizzled, which gave me a small lead. They followed me casting fireballs. When they were out of sight, I quickly hid and tried to remain clam. My heart was bumping against my chest, not by exhaustion, but by the thrill of being in danger. My pursuers appeared immediately, not seeing any trace of me. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to hide behind a tree, so both of them (!) stepped directly over me, shoving "something invisible" out of their way. They knew I was there! But they were stupid enough expecting me in the wrong place. |

| They cast a flame wall where they supposed I was hiding, which was fortunately some steps away from me. They noticed their error and now began systematically to scan painstakingly the whole area. Then Lord Drake got me!! He stepped directly into me, verifying two times and then making ready for a spell. As he uttered the words Flam Grav I knew it was time to run again. They followed me immediately, and suddenly I could not move anymore! They had paralyzed me! Oh my god, at once they started casting Energy Bolts on my motionless body and my health sank about 40%. I suddenly remembered the two flasks in my backpack which I had found in a dungeon. I managed to take them out, then I noticed I had to put away my weapon before drinking them. My health sank and sank when finally I swallowed the orange and then the yellow potion. I could move again! I then ran like I never had run before in my life! | ![]() |
I jumped across the bushes, stumbled across rocks. My
breath was gasping out of my lungs and I didn't dare to turn around. Suddenly the steps
behind me were getting weaker. "Good time to hide!" I thought, but this time
BEHIND a tree! It worked with the first try, again the gods of Britannia were with me! A
wandering healer who had watched the whole scene was shouting loudly for the guards. That
was good, because he distracted the attention of my pursuers. I saw them in the distance
striding around aimlessly. This time the area was just too large to be searched.
I waited a long time in my hiding place to make sure the area was secure again,
then I ran as fast as I could to Yew.
