The Rat Hole

ecently I went into the dungeon
Covetous when
only few heroes were on their way.It was challenging! Surrounded by harpies and corpsers I captured good booty. I entered cave after cave when suddenly I was surrounded by hundreds of giant rats!!! My heart stopped beating! Two rats or three are no problem, but if hundreds of them block your way, and you cannot escape anymore, it is the end of even a brave and strong fighter. After slaying two of them I hacked the way free and escaped. This event gave me the kick for my next adventure! |

I sat up slowly, trying to clear the sleep from my mind. I blinked rapidly as the sunlight pierced my retina- I still wasn't accustomed to the constant brightness of the sky in this world. I swung my feet off of the small bed and onto the cold, wooden floor. My muscles ached from my exertions during this last night at Covetous. Finally I stood, stretched, and walked towards the jumbled pile of clothing and armor in the corner of the small inn-room. Donning my battle-worn armor and my green robe, I steeled myself against the idea of the long journey ahead of me - hopefully the excursion would go smoothly, with none of the complications that had plagued me in the past... |
| I reached the meeting point at the royal
bank just in time to meet my friends from the Rangers - a group of
tough adventurers from
the Guild of Freedom. This day we would clean up the Rat Hole, a narrow cleft in the mountains southeast of Yew. KugelBlitz had taken a rune along, and after borrowing a wizard hat to Baal and casting the cunning spell on him, Baal was able to recall with us to our destination: The Rat Hole. My thoughts wandered off thinking of the ancient tales I had heard about this place. |

As we reached that area we were attacked by some giant ratmen at once. For killing one two new seemed to appear. It was horrifying! Thanks to our good teamwork we managed to clear the place and wipe out all the enemies. I was strangely touched when I heard the ratmen uttering noises in an unknown language while fighting for their lives. Would I be able one day to understand the meaning of these words? Deep in my mind I already had decided to visit the Lyceum, the biggest library in Britain. |
| My thoughts were interrupted when an
ettin entered the scene. He attacked me, but with the help of my friends KugelBlitz, Benu
and Baal the heavy two-headed monster crashed to the ground after a few minutes, sighing
his last breath. We encountered another army of rats, and we fought and spilled blood until it all was over. Even the orc camps had taken out and had been devastated and looted by men. |

The place suddenly became peaceful and
quiet. After the noise of the battle had been worn off we could hear the birds singing and
the whisper of the leafs. It was time to leave again. The trip had been successful, and there were no losses in our team. So we recalled back to Trinsic and sold our hard-won loot. We arranged a new meeting, and maybe we would visit the deep caves of Covetous again - the place where KugelBlitz had died by a Liche. |
